|

I am looking at buying a FDS MIP and need to know what monitors to buy.
I checked the dimensions for the 2 captains screens and the distance from the left side of the PFD to the right side of the ND, including the frame in the middle is 393mm. this is from the http://www.markuspilot.com/MarkusPilot.htm website which as I understand are the numbers from the real thing.
Can someone please check against your MIP's to see if the sizes are right.
So anyway I worked out from a 19 inch 16:10 screen the width is 16.11 inches or 409mm. SO that should be fine.
For the MIP CDU the width req is 290.5mm and a 15 inch 4:3 lcd gives a width of 304.5. So this should work.
So am I on the right track?
2x 19 inch wide screen and one 15 inch 4x3?

Is the 10" not a bit too small.
If the opening is 180mm square, then a 12 inch would cover but a 10 should be a bit too small.
Am i wrong?
Also can someone tell me if both MIPs offered by FDS have 2 or 3 standy instrument openings.
I saw some new NG aircraft pics and see that they have 1 or 2 glass standy instruments. This is the way I would like to go. _________________ Gareth

Gareth,
FDS MIP's are Dual Standby (ISIS style).
Yeah, in theory a 12"(portrait) for a Lower EICAS is Ideal,
BUT they are hard to find AND wont fit between TWO CDU's,
not to mention other physical constraints which you will come across
when the time comes...
I nearly lost my hair with DUAL CDU and Lower EICAS. Thats why you don't see it too often
PS. How did this topic end up in Interface forum? |

Sorry about the location of the posting.
I read the heading wrong, I thought it was interface/products
My bad.
Just one more question though.
Does the MIP come with the frame/bezel (not sure what its called) for the lower eicas screen? Or do I have to buy that seperately?
Also is there a post you know of that outlines the differences between the $899 and the $499 MIP?

You are absolute right. I use an 12,3" for lower eicas and it is perfect match. You can find this screen at www.earthlcd.com for 149$.

Ivar,
Do you have your LCD mounted in a 1:1 scale Pedestal Bay AND in between two FDS CDU's?
Any pics?

Only 1 CDU mounted yet but it is just to slip the second CDU in place. The screen fits perfect between the CDU`s. This an old type of screen so the picture quality is not perfect but good enough for the purpose.
Measurements of the screen: Width 187mm, High 265mm, thick 8mm.
