Tom B (Germany) B747-400 PRO-M Series Trainer

Post by pcos »

Tom B has been working closely with FDS to create his own "High End" FTD setup. Based on FDS FBPT parts and featuring all the latest/greatest offerings from our B747 line up, Tom is well on his way to his goal. Tom is using a B747 Yoke purchased from the ACE folks. Many thanks to Tom for the fantastic pictures and his attention to detail. PC

Looking good. What are you planning to do for a shell?

Cheers,

Jon

Hi folks,

yes I am the proud owner of these wonderful parts. I would like to thank the whole FDS team, especially Peter and Steve. You guys made a dream come true for me.

To Jon:
Unfortunately I do not have the room for a shell :(
May be later. I also would like to thank you for your cooperation and your
outstanding work regarding the 744 system logic.

Cheers
Tom

Hi Thomas,

I didn't have time for a full shell either so I know what you are up against. I put some wood together to block out the light from the projectors, etc.

I'm the glad the logic has made the 744 more enjoyable.

Cheers.

Jon

Hi Thomas,

fabulous setup there...CONGRATULATIONS!!

A quick question, the coloumn that you have purchased from ACE, does it have a control loading mechanism? Does it feel heavier the more out of trim you are?

Enjoy and best wishes,

Dinshaw.

Hi Dinshaw,

sorry the yoke does not have any control loading mechanism or force feedback option. But it's a must have. There is great review on mycockpit.org ( see link ) where you should find all the answers to your questions.

Presently as far as I know there are no units available on the market that come equipped with a load control system. There are companies however that manufacture such system that can be installed afterwards, but from what I understand they are quite expensive. I have not done any research to say for sure what kind of pricing we are talking about.

Dear Thomas and Scorpioflyer,

Forgive my belated response as I was travelling for the last 2 weeks. Once again, thanks for your comments. I do hope that control loading becomes a part of future products, the experience it gives is second to none. I have many hours in the 737 LevelD Sim and trust me, it makes a world of a difference. Engravity were planning a 737 Coloumn with control loading, but I have no idea what happened to that project.

Cheers and happy simming,

Dinshaw.

Hi Tom,
Congratulations with your setup, and of course to Peter too for the nice hardware.
Yes the logic update for PMSystems make it all much better than before too. Nice to have Jon be able to write the code. I try to help hi as much as possible with the mighty B744 logic. Not always easy.

Many greetings

Hi Michel,

thanks for the comment. The logic is really tricky in some parts especially the fuel system. Jon did a fantastic job so far. I made some minor Issue fixes in the logic which are now part of the 4.5 release and I also will try to help to improve the logic in the future until PSX appears :D

Cheers
Tom
