Serious EFB software!

Post by melnato »

I stumbled across this amazing new EFB package from:

http://www.aivlasoft.com/products/index.html

Anyone building a 777 or even NG with EFB option (like me as of now!)
is going to find this package a must...and its very well priced...

I havent bought or tested it yet...so much to do, but I will for sure.

Nat showed this to me a few weeks ago and I think this is incredible software. I have not tried it but the overview spells out a serious winner.
We will be using and suggesting this package to all our customers.

Hi Nat,

Great looking software, thanks for sharing the link.

Mind letting the cat out of the bag as to what you're using for your EFB hardware? I wasn't aware any manufacturers put something like that out yet.

Chris...no cats in no bags here :)

I am planning to use my "Instructor/Systems PC" 10.1" touch screen to run the EFB.
Somehow..I'll try and incorporate it in the side interior...

Looks stunning!!

Peter, any idea of integrating this in the FDS Interior Linings? I know it's not common. But, ....

For the NG there are a few approaches being taken in the field.
The simplified approach has EFB units mounted on the Window Sides. These are attached to the moulded lower portion of the side windows.
The more involved approach has highly customized Steering Tiller side panels. This is pretty involved as you can imagine.
Having just released our new LINER package I can tell you that would be leaning towards the Window solution at this point!
Personally? On the NG.. I would be using the lower EICAS for this.
That's just me though!

Yep Lower EICAS is definitely an elegant solution for most NG users...
does look "hot" though incorporated like link above... :)

Check out PaulM's set up.
you can see his running that way.
Pretty smart approach.
The Lower EICAS on the "Commercial" NG is not a very "Active" item really.
When you start seeing all the new military variants these lower screens make more sense to the "plan" or "Design" :)

Here's an old close-up shot of how we did ours... 2 independent/linked EFBs, 8" touchscreens, mounted using mini-monitor arms to side panels. Provides swing and tilt flexibility, plus touchscreen interaction requires no leaning-over or squinting. Literally ''ät your fingertips".

Merry Christmas to all btw!

Nat thanks for the link to this software, I'm definitely going to pick this up. Lower eicas is definitely the way to go for display. I have not picked up a lower eicas yet, but given that this software supports touch screen I might go with a touch screen lcd if they have them in 10.4 sizes. (Have to check on that one)

One thing I like about the TSR electronic checklist is that it's controllable via FSUIPC. I have 4 buttons on a goflight p8 assigned to control it, have it pop up in the ND, etc. Wonder if that would be a future option for EFB.

Trying to get rid of having a mouse in the pit. Off to find a 10.4 touchscreen :)

Hey Nat...

http://www.davismicro.com/products/product_2114.htm

$161 vs $277?

Seems quite a gap!

UPDATE: $90 to ship to US... cheapest offered $82... Still cheaper than ebay but, I am not ordering from them on the grounds they are charging you a serious fee on shipping. Will order from Nat's ebay lilnk.
