Mark,

I had tried the method you posted earlier but I was not able to properly calibrate the flaps past the flaps 15 position. Up to 15, it worked perfectly but as soon as I selected flaps 25, the flaps needle on the Eicas display would move back instead of move up. Similarly for the higher flaps settings. It was simply impossible to calibrate until I made the change I talked about earlier in this post.

As you said, the 'The top Trigger and Display numbers should move' and they do move but the display value for flaps 25 starts increasing when you select 25 but then the counter starts decreasing and ends up with a lower value than for flaps 15. For some weird reason, it works for flaps 40 but not for flaps 25 or 30 since the display value ends up lower than in flaps 15, at least for me anyway.

I would love to know if anyone else had the same problem and if anyone has the same problem, please try the modification I made in the aircraft.cfg and report back. I have had weird unrelated problems lately and they may be affecting the flaps as well so the problem could entirely be mine only.

Thank you,
Maurice

Iam having the same issue flaps gauge works fine up to 15 then the FSUIPC value start to decrease and increase, the gauge will be stable at 40. But inflight when I select the flaps the speed scale in the PFD never changed. The VLS should decrease.

I noticed as well there's a different reading between the Sim avionics flaps gauge and the aircraft model. Even if you use the keyboard you will end up having different flaps setting. Eg Sim avionics Ecas shows 5 and in the aircraft model shows 15.

Any one experienced the same?

I've just uploaded a config file:

This contains :
FSX-PMDG-B737.CFG for the \Server Folder
Mark,

I finally just noticed that the aircraft.cfg file you included is for the 737-900 winglets and not the 800 model (as a replacement for the default 800). I assume this was deliberate and not a typo. If that was deliberate, I assume also that the FSX-PMDG-B737.CFG file you included is tuned for the 900 model & not the 800, or is there any difference at all?.

Can you please confirm that these files were indeed meant to be used on the PMDG 900 Winglets aircraft?

Many thanks,

Maurice

Hey every body,
I wanna update about what I did!
I modified the aircraft config file by changing the title and all the lines from 737-900 to 737-800. After that I run the sim, every thing works perfect as I expected. I don't have the flaps issue any more..

Mark,

Can you please comment about the flaps issue? It seems that there are different solutions on how to get the flaps to work correctly (mine & Maytham' solutions so far)

Also, as I asked before, are the files you included meant to be used on the PMDG 737-900 or the 800?

Thank you,

Maurice

Hi Maitham,

Cheers for posting this!

Question, did you change this in both cfg files? (SA and FSX )
Also, did you use 737800 or 737900 aircraft file in FSX?

Cheers

Hi Chris
I used the B737-800NGX file in FSX instead of the B737-900 as Mark mentioned..
You only have to modify the aircraft file in the FSX folder ( use the PMDG B737-800 folder) and it should works with you..

Thanks Maitham,

Okay done that.... Still can't get all the lights (taxi, landing, beacon, strobe, etc) to work.
Do you have this problem?

Cheers

You can use either aircraft...
Just make the "Title" unique.

I copied the -900 version.

I don't think any A/P tuning changes are required between the models, the flight characteristics are similar.

For me the Flaps are working fine.

Procedure:
I took a copy of the -900 aircraft folder and called it
\Sim-Avionics PMDG 737-900NGX WL

Then I edited the aircraft.cfg to make it unique and as a Sim-A manufacturer:
  • [fltsim.0]
    title=Sim-Avionics 737-900NGX PMDG House Winglets
    sim=B737-900WL
    model=
    panel=
    sound=
    texture=pmdg
    kb_checklists=Boeing737-900_check
    kb_reference=Boeing737-900_ref
    atc_airline=PMDG
    atc_id=N739PM
    atc_flight_number=739
    atc_model=737-900
    atc_parking_types=GATE,RAMP
    atc_type=BOEING
    ui_createdby=PMDG
    ui_manufacturer=Sim-Avionics
    ui_type=737-900NGX
    ui_typerole=737-900
    ui_variation=PMDG House Winglets
    airline_name=PMDG Flight Test
    description=Boeing 737-900 powered by CFM engines v 1.0\nPMDG Simulations\nwww.precisionmanuals.com \n\nProduced under license from Boeing Management Company.\n\nBoeing 737, 737-800, 737-900 & Boeing are among the trademarks owned by Boeing.
    visual_damage=0
I then set the panel.cfg to:
  • [fltsim]
    alias=b737_800\panel
And that's it.

This aircraft model uses a lot of custom code to control it's animations so the control surfaces don't move like they normally would do and this seems to apply to the lights too.
For me the best compromise is to change the \MODEL to a normal FSX aircraft... You can use the default 737 or the FS9 PMDG 737.
Then you've got the FSX NGX flight model with a different visual model.
Now your control surfaces and Lights work like normal.

Using the Default FSX 737:
Copy \model
Copy \texture
Copy \texture.1
Copy \texture.2
Copy \texture.3
Copy \texture.4
Copy \texture.5

Edit the PMDG aircraft.cfg
  • [fltsim.0]
    title=Sim-Avionics 737-900NGX PMDG House Winglets
    sim=B737-900WL
    model=
    panel=
    sound=
    texture=1
This will put the Default "Boeing" livery aircraft with the PMNG NGX flight model.

Flaps

Post by willow »

Some excellent suggestions here - thanks for posting.

I have done everything suggested here, and configured SIM-A flaps correctly. However, this is what the flaps do with my set up with NGX.

The flaps work - it's just annoying that the EICAS flaps indicator needle jumps to F15 when moving through to F25 and F30. Once the flaps are deployed the needle then registers the correct flap number.

It would be good to solve this - somehow :)

I have just read that Mark is releasing a utility which I hope will solve these issues :) WilloW

Hi,

Does this also enables the PMDG 737 NGX to remove any panels so you only have the front external view? Or, do I have to take any further actions. :roll:
