Blinking LEDs

Post by rippey »

Just finished hooking up the overhead panel using SYS1 board, and having a blast so far. Its awesome to wire everything up and within minutes have the various switches and annunciators functioning properly. Fantastic system. The one thing I have noticed is I have a group of 8 annunciators (grouped together) that happen to be for the 8 electrical prope/vane anti ice annunciators. When the aircraft is powered down (battery off etc) they tend to blink on an off...sometimes 2 sometimes 4, sometimes all 8 together. When the aircraft is powered up the problem disappears and they light/extinguish as they should. The blinking is very similar to the identify output mode, but I made sure that this was not active. Anyone seen this before? It is probably self-induced, but it would be great if anyone had any suggestions!

Please Check:
No switches are plugged into the LED section (happens!)
Same for reverse.. No LEDs plugged into switches.
Please check that the SYS1 name is right clicked and LED TEST or Input Mode is not ON.
Also check that the IDENTIFY box is not showing Purple Letters.
This happens when the unit is in that mode.
Otherwise. Never heard of this before!!!

will double check all of those! thanks!

it only happens with that one group of LEDs, and when I changed them to a different set of outputs that problem still existed...so I am starting to think it may be PMSystems causing the strange behaviour.

You are doing the right thing by trouble shooting...
You may want to rewire each LED on its own.. checking to see if its one output..
Glad you are digging in. Thank you!

Couple things to try....

(1) Ensure your ground wire is only utilized for the same group of 8 LED's

(2) The PM Systems ini file has a setting called 'ChristmasTree'. It apparently switches on all LEDs upon shutdown. Ensure it's '=Off'

Hope that helps!!!

thanks for all the suggestions...it turns out it is a PMSystems issue. When I assigned these LEDs another function they stopped blinking. So I modified PMSystems logic and fixed it that way.
