Hi,

It's maybe stupid, but can be handy.

I'm talking about the the download part within the InterfaceIT.
Whenever I download, I need to either change the path or drag-and-drop afterwards to organize the XML on my HDD.

Is there a way to incorporate within the options, the possibility to define where the modules, inputs and outputs need to be transferred to. Also handy for the Export functionality. Makes it easier to organize the export (backup) of the settings.

This way you can keep the XMLs organized. There are over 100 or even 200 files in total.

Oh, Also the possibility to export the empty switch/led configs would be nice. I've migrated the software to a new machine and now I need to reenter the empty switches. (which aren't interfaced yet by pmSystems).

Just an idea!!! :)

What is the preferred way to upgrade an existing version install?

Hi Eric,

You can use the Option in Tools - Check for Software Updates in InterfaceIt that will check for updates and then install from there. I have been using that and have had no trouble. If there are no updated versions the message appears in the lower left corner. If there is a ne w version you will see a message to install it.

Got your email Eric, thanks!

I dont have this option available- I guess Im running a much older version of InterfaceIT and a manual install/update is required. After downloading the file do I just let it overwrite the current install?

Back Up

Post by pcos »

Pretty standard Line around here for you to always back up your master XML file before you update. You should have no problem to update but that is a lot of work yo uare entrusting to the computer. Things happen.
When I do it here I copy the whole interfaceIT folder and save it somewhere until I have run the setup again a few times.
Play safe..

Backup- Yes, I was just about to comment on this. I was very glad I had an old version of my file (that had an example of how I did something very long ago and I had forgotten) because I somehow lost my most current xml file late last night and could have saved an hour of time of reprogramming if I had taken advantage of the excellent export feature :-) Trust me, I will definately back up the latest version now!

Another way is to EXPORT each card. I do that so i can install each card on their own.

Export the cards, save the files. Update InterfaceIT and you should be good. If you have a problem you have the last Exported files to IMPORT and be running again.

I EXPORT after every change and save these files on another computer or Key Drive.
