Hey Guys
Like most "old timers" I have non IBL and some IBL (MCP and EFIS)
I have now to backlit pedestal and OVH.
I have a feeling I'm not the only one

What type of backlighting, or choice of LEDs, would match the color of IBLs??

Jack

I think none. We use real aircraft bulbs and the same plastics. Result is the panels end up like the real ones. It would be very complicated to try and filter an led to look like an incandescent bulb. Part of the beauty of The FDS is the real aircraft bulbs Jack.

Jack, use any means to backlight and play around in paintshop with the colours to make some paper backing filter.

Print out a range of oranges and yellows on A4 to use as a backing filter till you get it right. cut out the paper and insert
Tthe right one for white leds is more orangey than you think.

I have got it more or less perfect and you couldnt tel the diff compared to my ibl panels and real panels i have......the only thing that lets it down is that the leds dont do as perfect a job at spreading the light like the ibls do.

ibls are the best.

You will get very close though..

Thank you Guys
My intent was not to make it as good as IBL's .Just making the best out of otherwise very nice "Signature" panels held together by long hours of dedication.
Cheers
Jack

FDS is number one for quality...
but i have some real panels with integrated bulbs at 5V. As I have some bulbs burn where is possible buy this real? I try on ebay but none..
The panels on back report SPECTRA LUX S233T100.
The LAMP code are MS90451-6832 (bulbs 5V). The mini bulbs are 2,7mm diam for 3,5mm depth and don't burn when light (to avoid fuse the front panel think..)
So where is possible buy this or real or if possible that mounted on FDS panels?

regards,
Valerio

Valerio,
As we claim, we use "Real" aircraft bulbs.
Our IBL panels use these bulbs as well. Email me and we can discuss.
