Can SIOC read the outputs and inputs of the FDS cards or just those from OpenCockpits?
Thanks
Alan

No not at all. Sioc is their version of interfaceIT MCS.

Steve
It seems as if it's a more robust programming than just simply applying offsets, keystrokes, or internal variables to a switch or LED. I am trying to get a pair of LEDs to operate the way the do in the real aircraft and SIOC could do this. What I want (and maybe this can be done with an internal variable in InterfaceIT) is to have one LED come on with an offset and then go off after 10 seconds and also have a second LED delay coming on for 12 seconds after being initiated by an offset.
Thanks
Alan

This is something that the Avionics Software should do in their logic, provide you with an offset to turn ON/OFF the switch and they would provide you with an offset for the Annuciator.

Steve
I have the offsets but it's programming the delays that is the issue. I think I've found a way around it though.
Thanks
Alan

Steve,

What's really needed is the ability to have a "Sleep" function for Internal Variables, just like we do with the Offsets. Do you think Brent can take a look?

I'll ask. I know we have him busy on a few other things lately (like X-Plane Radio's).

Eric,

Can we get an example of what you are trying to do?

Sure! (sorry for taking so long, didnt realize there was a request here).

Let's say we want to create an input using Internal Logic (no offset) and so we want a fuction called "Switch X ON" to come on for only 10 seconds.

In choosing an offset, we can tell it to have a Sleep Value, then OFF or a sleep value, then ON for xx,xxx time value. We want the same for Internal Variables.

A good example would be the LJ45 APU. It has a Start switch that is split-faced. One legend says START, the other half RUN. Since we may create this system logic using SYS Internal Variables, we could have the switch turn on an LED for 10 seconds, then extinguish and the lower half RUN illuminate perpetually till pressed off.

I talked to Brent.

Reply:

Just added it to the latest version. There is a new operation for the internal variable that will turn on for a duration and then turn off.

Will post when the newest version is released.

Wow, that is wonderful. Thanks so much!

...And THIS is why we push FDS SYS cards so hard over at Hangar45.net. Excellent product, excellent customer service, excellent implementation of new and helpful features.

Thanks again!

I agree wholeheartedly on that one Eric. This is really great service. I can now program a couple of LEDs that I couldn't before. Thanks FDS.

If you guys can get round to it, another great option is to have conditional switches. For instance some times the function of one switch is conditional on the position of a second switch. This is done in FSUIPC by adding this line in the Button section of the ini file.

n=CP(+ja,b0)ja,b4

This tells joystick a button #4 that it cannot process it's offset until Joystick a button #0 is in the ON position. a "-" would tell it that it cannot send it's offset until the switch is in the OFF position.
Obviously we cannot do that as there are no ini file entries for the FDS connected switches. I would have though that there would be many instances in an aircraft where that functionality exists.
Thanks
Alan

Do have to say that in most cases the Avionics software would be able to do that easily. I'll add that to the list. No promises (yet).
