STANDBY INSTRUMENTS FOR LATEST FDS MIP

Post by KiwiBuilder »

Hello all,
I've ordered up the FDS MIP. I would like to purchase the Jetmax LCD Screens for the upper and lower Engine displays. Could you please confirm these would fit in MIP ( probably I stupid question, sorry ! )
If I went down this road I would need to find an ISIS and RMI Gauge. I understand the FI RMI gauge does not fit the FDS MIP? What are other builders using if they went the same way I'm thinking? Could I modify the FDS MIP to fit the 3 FI standby instrument stack?
I know Boeing is now only installing the ISIS Gauge in there aircraft..I'd like to have all standby instruments if at all possible.

Thank you in advance for your much needed advice 😀

Cheers Chris Durney

I'm in NZ so I can't get the 18.5 inch/16:9 or the 15 inch 4:5 screens...

Hi Chris

If you are going to add individual Standby Instruments the you won't be needing the 15" screen in any case as it covers the upper EICAS and 2 1/2 of the Standby instruments as well.

I think you would need a screen about the same size as the MFD (lower EICAS) screen.

I'm pretty sure FDS sell screens as well, maybe talk to Peter or Steve.

Hi Michate, yes the Jetmax screens are 10.4 inch so would then need to find something to cover ISIS and RMI.. I'm asking what other sim builders are using to do this..

Hi Chris, I think you will find that most are using one screen to cover the upper EICAS and the standby instrument as I am. Not using FI gauges for the standby's.

A 15 inch monitor (not wide) covers nicely the upper DU and the standbys
Best and easiest solution as the 3 st-bys are no more. The upper ADI is gone, and its cover plate also, the ISIS is a screen anyway and the RMI is displayed on the monitor..

Hi Chris

From your initial post I got the impression that you were intending to purchase Standby instrument stack, something similar to FI ones and that you were asking about the screen for the Upper EICAS.

Sorry if I got the wrong impression.

My rig is like the two builders above. 15" screen with 2 standby instruments

And I still think FDS can sell you the screens 18" and 15" even if you do live in NZ.

Cheers
Michael

Thank you gentleman for your replies.. after much searching I have been able to find some second hand 15 inch monitors and new 18.5 displays
:)

I think I will do as you suggest and use 15 inch for upper display. I see Simworld have a plug and play ISIS unit that might work in the future.

Thanks again
