|
|
Hi Everyone
Ever since I first got my JetMax 737 I have thought about improving it and getting more realism into my flying.
As I'm limited in space the Dual Seat (unfortunately) was never an option.
So with that in mind I'm setting about on enclosing my rig, adding window frames and CAP side inner compartment (side panelling)
I'm not 100% confident about this but think it's worth giving it a shot.
I have got quite a few measurements from the web and decided to start with the front centre window pillar and top window frame as this one is the easiest to make and position. (a very good friend of mine is doing the majority of the woodwork, to which I'm very grateful) I couldn't find any Single Seat 737 that have been enclosed with partial shell on the net (maybe I'm not looking hard enough)
Having recently learnt how to add photos to the post, I have added some below.
All comments welcome and if you have some info, that is welcome too.
Will this work or not? well see.....
This is my JetMax Corner and the first part of the window frame in position to take measurements.
A Closer view of the centre pillar and CAP Window 1 top frame
Looking back from the FO window 1 frame (FO window will not be a full window but just a partial frame going just past the OH side frame)
It's a bit hard to see but this is pretty much the eye height view from the seat
The project will be slow but I thought that some JetMax owners may be interested.
Cheers

Hi All
Well I have been sitting in the Sim with this window frame up and just not happy. The top left corner and top line of the window 1 frame just seems to be too close to my head.
The measurements and angles that I got from the internet were just not correct.
In the end I downloaded a photo of a guy who bought a nose section form a wrecking yard and had it sitting upright nearly straight on. From this photo I took measurements of the window ANGLES
So now I have made a temp version of the window frame and put it on the Simulator to see how it feels and the answer is YES.
Its hard to see the angles from the photos but here are a few photos of Version 2. Now to make the as installed version.

Thanks Jack
Yes that does motivate.
That sort of enclosure is what I have in mind.
Cheers

A little bit more work done.
I have made a decision on the window frame angles, taken measurements and then some more, I have sat in the left seat and pondered.
But decision was made and the final version of the window (top) frame has been made and installed.

More Progress.
The Left Window 1-2 pillar cut and installed.
I think it looks reasonable.

Oh and one more thing
The outline of the side boxes is complete.
I have decided to use the JetMax tiller panel angle.
(I know it's different on the Dual Station and in real aircraft but I came to realise that it's way too much trouble to change it so I'll live with it)

Yesterday the front window 1-2 pillar was trimmed into shape (with lots of help from my woodwork expert) and this morning I secured it into it's final resting position on the rig.
Quite happy to get this part completed and happy with the result.
Next steps are
Side windows 2 and 3
Rear Bulkhead
Side boxes
Not necessarily in that order, will probably be working on all 3 at same time.

Hi All
Just to catch up a bit.
Thanks to a fellow Sim Builder for supplying me with some Boeing Grey paint, the frame is painted and reinstalled on the Simulator.
The frame is now properly (well at least I think so) secured and should not need to be removed again.
I must say, I do like the look of the frame now that it has been painted.

During the last week, my friend and I have been busy constructing the CAP sidewall box. Last night we completed it and I couldn't wait to get it home and slide it into place.
Yes, I like it and it fits in well with the seat and seat adjustment levers.
Will paint it soon enough.
Cheers
