Xplane project

Post by vaidorge »

Hello

I would like to switch to XP (future XP11) because i'm tired to install all addons each year after a big release of P3D. I have FDS and great sima, i know all are now available for xp. I would like to have some experiences of customers of curved screen. I'm beginning to build one. For a fov 200-220 can i use only 1 XP computer with a curved software (SOL7, flyElise ...).

Many thanks for your return

No one can actually try this until XP11 is released,
but 200+FOV is currently possible with XP10 with A LOT of hard work.
I will be trying it when XP11 is released for fun(or torture).

Hi Emmanuel,

I'm just about ready to jump ship myself, I'm fed up with P3D and the bsods, stop errors and the whole reinstall process.

I looked at the video of Xplane 11 (due out in Nov.) and the night visuals look incredible, just wondering what the changeover will be for someone with a full flight deck and SimA.

XPlane 11 looks very impressive, as does that flight deck in Vegas! Nat you see the sim fly?, does it look like it's floating in on final at about 80 knots and feels more like a Cessna at touchdown... that's the way it feels in P3D unless you decrease the zoom level?.

I definitely flew it along with Steve C once installation
was complete, It was really nice.
However...the flight model was hosted by PSX,
so I can't comment on Xplane's flight model in
that case.
People either love it or hate it.(xplane)

Biggest issue is the time it will take to integrate all the Avionics software.

Once it comes out it takes time to try it, test it and integrate it. Won't happen overnight.

The demand is not there (yet) and I suggest if people want to try they could start a New Topic related to X-Plane and your findings. Discuss what you see (no complaining!, that goes in the X-Plane forum) and how you solved different issues. Then as time permits I am sure the Avionics vendors we work with will take time to work on it as well. Don't expect it to all work the next day.

Guys, I'll be watching this topic closely. I use P3D and want to go to a visual system with at least 180 but would prefer 200 FOV. I think a lot of people are interested BUT, we know it's going to take some time as Steve and others have mentioned.

I have to admit that XPlane 11 is looking very interesting. It would be so nice to have modern software that took advantage of the computer technology now available to us, unlike FSX/P3D which is (currently) firmly locked to the technology that was available a decade or more ago.

However, I am a long way from making the switch until XPlane is fully supported in Sim-A and I dont have to sacrifice any functionality that I currently have. In the meantime I hope that LM are working on a major update of the underlying engine driving P3D.

Emmanuel,

XP11 is so close now, I would put XP10 on pause for now and wait until we can slowly test it when it released.

XPlane is completely different to P3D.
100% Integration will not happen automatically or quickly at all based on experience with XP10.

Nat, now that we have XP11, any news in the cockpit building front?
I am using it a single PC with the stock 737NG with the Zibo mods and what a pleasure. Adding Ortho4xp plus other free goodies, wow.
Zibo has offered to eliminate the 3D cockpit for us but he needs some examples of what we need. He has provided data ref and commands for us too. His updates are almost daily if not hourly. For those interested look at
