Need some help with Sim-Avionics outputs regarding the Flight Altitude and Landing Altitude displays on my 737 home built overhead if anyone can help.

I'm in the process of wiring up my overhead 7-segment displays but cannot identify the outputs to use in the FSUIPC_IO.INI file so I can get the flight altitude and landing altitude values. The only references to 'Landing altitude' or 'Flight altitude' is 'Air_pressure_altitude' and 'Air_landing_pressure_altitude' but they are in the Inputs section so don't work. There doesn't seem to be the respective outputs as far as I can see. Neither is there anything in the FSUIPC standard outputs.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Jock Munro

You might want to detail the hardware end of things here....
Details help others dive in and offer viable support ideas...

Thanks Peter,

Just for clarity then....

The hardware I'm using is an arduino Mega 2560, Mobiflight Connect and 2 x Max7219's connected to 5 digit 7-segments. I'm setting custom offsets in the Sim-A FSUIPC_IO.INI file so Mobiflight connect can read them then send the output to the arduino/Max7219's etc.

Basically all I need is someone to point me towards the Sim-A outputs for Flight Alt and Land Alt so I can set the offsets. I've been right through the file and nothing is obvious. (Of course maybe Sim-A hasn't got outputs for these yet?)

During testing I got these working with Prosim (as Prosim has outputs for these) but having decided to go with Sim-A I can't find similar output values.

Hope this is clear.

Thanks a lot.

The inputs you need are to the front of the FSUIPC.IO.ini file

[FSUIPC_PRESSURIZATION_INPUTS]
// 2 byte word (div 10 - ie 2150 = 21500)
FLT_ALTITUDE=0
LND_ALTITUDE=0
; Multiply Input Value by
CALCULATION=1

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. However these are inputs. What I need are the outputs.

I have experimented with these and they do not output what is shown on the OH GUI. If I use these as outputs the assigned offsets do not change when I use the GUI to alter the flight alt/landing alt.

I expected corresponding outputs to these inputs. Or have I missed the point somewhere?

Edit..

You have however given me an idea. If the only way the flight Altitude and Landing altidude displays change are through pilot input then I may be able to assign AIR_PRESSURE_ALTITUDE and AIR_LANDING_ALTITUDE to their respective encoders THEN read the same offsets to then output to the displays.

Thanks for the reply which has put me on another possible solution. I will experiment and then report back.

Cheers

The flight and landing displays are INPUTS, set by the flight crew prior to take off

Hi Jock

It actually been a long time since I last looked at these offsets as all of my recent work has been with FDS hardware.

Just to confirm...but I believe you have worked it out already....
When I was using InterfaceIT and the FSUIPC_IO file the Inputs were mapped to 56AA and 56AC and we also mapped those to the 7 Segs.
They are set by the pilots, so whatever value is in the input offset can also be displayed.

Code:
[FSUIPC_PRESSURIZATION_INPUTS]
// 2 byte word  (div 10 - ie 2150 = 21500)
FLT_ALTITUDE=56AA
LND_ALTITUDE=56AC
; Multiply Input Value by
CALCULATION=1

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your comments.

I managed to get the displays/encoders working with custom offsets however they appear to be unsigned so negative values loop around rather than being displayed (i.e -500).

I'm presuming 56AA & 56AC are custom offsets you assigned in the IO file rather than being pre-set by the software? If so how did you make the offset signed? Since the OH GUI already displays negatives is there another signed set of offsets I can use with these values?

If not is there any work arounds you can suggest?

Thanks a lot for your input. And thanks for the excellent software. I'm enjoying the build experience.

Cheers

Jock

Hi Mark et all,

I managed to sort this out. No idea why I was not getting negative numbers when I tried setting this up earlier this week. I've change to a different encoder and for some reason my displays are now showing what they should.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers
