I've been down this PCI Hub route. Be aware that these type cards share the extra 7 USB on the same bandwidth. The best way around this is to use a PCIe card that has dedicated channels. Here is the card I have used on several occasions. Its cost considerably more than the 7 port cards but each port is its own channel and bandwidth is not shared.

Great advice Pat. USB works perfectly if you watch the length of runs and how much data you are trying to move...
